Hazukashii was
supposed to be the hare but we aborted trail and went straight to the on after,
at the hares away time of 7 PM, due to sever lightning strikes right near us. At
least we all lived to hash another day. Seven people showed up, Hazukashii,
Horse Fisterer,Your Truly Dabadoo, Bovine From Behind, On Ahead, Dark Helmet and
Blo-N-Go.

All was well, the trail was sorted, the stars were
aligned, but then . . . it started getting dark. Then darker, and darker yet . .
. and what do you know. Along came drops of rain, spattering around the way.
Undeterred, the hare arrived at the start, soon followed by Dab. Then even a new
transplant turned up, Horse Fisterer (but she decided to give it a miss as the
temps kept dropping with the rain). On Ahead rolled in, soon followed by Bovine,
and we waited.
As 7 pm came closer, I began prepping my flour bag, and asked the pack what they
thought . . . “Are we all good?” And initially we were on track, THEN, a major
flash appeared, followed by loud (and no pun intended) THUNDEROUS blast shook
the ground. Well, that was close. Then less than 2 minutes later, a repeat flash
and bang . . . and it was decided we ought not be dashing between the rain drops
testing our fate. So it was back in the cars, and off to the post trail
activities at Hooters.
As we began to sit down, we are joined by Dark Helmet and Blo-n-go, to round out
the pack for the day. And that’s it. This marks the very first time I ever
showed up to a trail that didn’t happen. I feel so dirty.
